It was great to write this piece for @edulge about It was great to write this piece for @edulge about the role our senses and, in particular, scent plays in drawing and connecting us to another. Scent can play a significant role in attraction, and can invoke feelings, emotions and memories. Have you ever walked into a room and the smell reminded you of someone? Have you ever borrowed an item of clothing because the smell made you feel close to someone? Have you ever noticed a rush of pleasure or sense of comfort when you smell someone you care for? Or perhaps you associate a certain smell with excitement and desire. We have our senses for good reason. Consider how sense of smell and scent invokes feelings for you 💋

While the average age in the UK for menopause (non While the average age in the UK for menopause (non-surgical) is 51, this does vary from person to person due to genetics, ethnicity, environmental and other factors, with anywhere from 40 to 57 being most common. Thankfully we are hearing a lot more about menopause and the signs, symptoms and support around it these days. Talking to women, one of the things that I am increasingly seeing is changes in mood that can happen many years before menopause, and we later identify as being one of their first signs of perimenopause. I am keen to raise awareness of this as feel we often look for combinations of symptoms, which if not present can leave people feeling like there is something wrong with them they can’t explain which can be even more distressing.

Perimenopause symptoms, which we experience as our body starts to make subtle hormone changes in preparation of slowing down, can happen around 5-10 years before menopause.

Don’t sit on these upsetting and distressing symptoms alone if you are experiencing them. There are many ways to help you through the hormonal changes 💋
